The Trio's First Circus - Oct. 15

Every year a church member offers our family free tickets to the Shrine circus. We took Jackson a few years ago when the trio were babies. Jackson wanted to leave at intermission and doesn't have fond memories of the circus. He chose to spend the night with his MiMi while we took James, Amelia, and Maddie to their first circus experience.

We were almost late; we had to park far away. Before we had unloaded the kids, a Shriner came in a golf cart and told us to jump in. Amelia and I rode in the back and held on for dear life.

The kids were mesmerized by the lights, sounds, and animals. There were three circles in the arena. At times only one act was on stage; other times all three rings were filled. They didn't quite know where to look. They smiled, clapped, and provided commentary.

Amelia and James were eager to go down to the arena floor during intermission. James was especially receptive to the clowns.

Amelia enjoyed the clowns from a safe distance. She was less of a fan as the clowns came closer.

Thankfully they were content to watch the animals and didn't ask about riding any. The absurd cost would have warranted an automatic no.

The kids were growing restless, We watched a few more acts after intermission then made a quiet exit.

We enjoyed a fun afternoon and a new experience for James, Amelia, and Maddie.
