August Outtakes

I've consistently recorded our daily outings and adventures, but there are plenty of silly, bizarre occurrences that get lost in between all of the events. Here are some of the everyday happenings at home that didn't make the blog this month.

Jackson is obsessed with hiding under laundry baskets. I was amused when the babies began climbing on top of the basket while he was underneath.

For two days straight, Amelia suddenly stopped what she was doing and assumed the downward dog position.

Of course, that was practice for her to get comfortable standing on her own.

Anytime I open the back door, all three kids rush to get in and out of the house. All three cannot fit, but that doesn't stop them from wrestling one another.

Thanks to an unfortunate diaper change gone wrong, James and Maddie both required an impromptu bath in the sink.

Jackson likes to open the dryer and let the babies crawl in it. At least Jackson can't reach the top to turn it on.

James cut four top teeth this month, which caused several days of grumpiness. I guess Jesse commiserated with him.

Amelia, Maddie, and James have mastered climbing the stairs. I open the gate when it's time to go upstairs, and they all ascend the staircase. As I was taking a picture, Maddie slipped on her dress and tumbled down two steps.

If the bathroom door isn't closed completely, James WILL play in the toilet. Along with wires and cords, he has a sixth sense for when the bathroom door is ajar.

All three of the trio love "helping" load and unload dishes.

James' hair is getting so long I like to play with different hairstyles in the bath.

While I love the Little Tikes Playsets we purchased, my blood pressure rises every time the trio play on them now. Maddie can climb the slide by herself. Amelia taught herself to swing by climbing inside and standing on the swing. James can climb the tiny rock wall on the other side. It won't be so hazardous once they learn how to slide and climb down, but for now, it can get chaotic.

I found Amelia like this yesterday morning.

And my favorite outtake...
I wish there was a story or explanation behind this last one, but I was simply an observer.

Two Front Teeth

James' top two teeth finally cut through. He's now in the lead with four teeth. Maddie still has two and Amelia only has one (that hasn't even fully cut through).

And while we're focusing on James, I have photographic evidence to show you how sneaky he is! I rearranged the deck and baby gates so that the kids could explore the entire deck safely and not be confined to baby jail. We moved their water table and a playset on the deck so they have a flat surface to play. This stinker snuck through the crack of the gate, cruised along behind the gate, and moved the gate back as if he just miraculously happened to end up on the other side. He looked so proud of himself, too.

I'm afraid James is going to be an especially mischievous toddler.

This is What Happens When...

Jackson and Amelia are the only two people playing in the nursery.
The safety lock is taken off the cabinets for a second (long enough for me to grab a pot).
Jackson leaves food on the coffee table.
James throws his cup of milk (approximately 16 times a day)
We attempt to play on the deck.
I ask Jesse to take a picture of the girls and I playing in the sprinkler. Really?
James plays in the sandbox.
Maddie wants more food. (Guess it's time to actually use the buckle.)
James refuses to nap. (Please note: He was fully dressed when we laid him down.)
I run upstairs to get something without putting the gate up.
Amelia sits on Maddie's foot. (Maddie pushed her to the ground a few seconds later.)
Amelia's inner bad ass comes out. (She crawled across the yard and got on Jack's bike by herself.)
James discovers saran-wrap.
You marry someone obsessed with psychological thrillers and horror.
James feeds himself beans.
Jesse practices the long jump.
MiMi tries to leave.
the bathroom door is accidentally left open.
You blink and you suddenly have three one-year olds standing up.

Stubbornly Independent

Don't let this cute face fool you.

This boy is so darn stubborn I can't stand it!  There is no stopping him when he wants something.  One day this will be an admirable trait, but right now it's just irritating.  He. Drives. Me. Crazy!
In one day, Jack...
busted off the childproof lock on the pantry, climbed on his chair, and got a bag of marshmallows out.

broke the lock off the refrigerator/freezer, got his own bowl from the cupboard, and began to dip his own bowl of ice cream on the floor.

used a broom to knock over his candy bucket from Halloween.

Now granted, I watched him do this one and even took photographic evidence for Jesse because I thought that was pretty clever of him.

I guess I should be proud of his determination and problem solving skills, but I spend more time cleaning up his mess.
