All About Maddie, Age 2

Maddie is still our smallest, most feisty, baby girl. She has a big personality.

Maddie is delayed, though she no longer receives speech services. She is generally clear in articulating her wants and needs, and she easily names a hundred or more nouns. She is increasingly harder to understand the more frustrated she gets. She uses simple sentences regularly.

Maddie still needs to nap daily, though she rarely does. She is the first to fall asleep at night, and she normally sleeps 11-12 hours straight in her crib.  She recently went through a phase where she woke up crying in the night, but she seems to have resumed her regular sleep habits. She likes to bury herself under her blanket.

Maddie wakes up hungry. As soon as I walk in her room she says, "I want eat!" She is more of a grazer, especially mid-morning. Maddie's favorite foods include cheese, apples, grapes, crackers, spaghetti, and quesadilla. She is a slow eater, but gets very upset if anyone tries to take her food away.

Maddie wears a size 2T in most things, though she can fit in some 3T. She wears a size 5 shoe. She likes getting dressed.

Maddie is pretty easy going about everything except bath time. She despises baths!

Not only is Maddie not showing any interest in potty training, she has cried in terror the few times I've put her bare bottom on a children's toilet seat. She does let me know right away when she poops, but never before. She also cries if she pees on herself when she's not wearing a diaper. (Obviously this doesn't happen often since she's normally wearing a diaper.)

Some of Maddie's favorite things include coloring, baking, looking through photo books, and playing with pretend food. She also loves singing and dancing. She currently sings along whenever she hears Adele's Hello, and she also hands me my phone sometimes and says, "I want song."

I don't know if it's considered a hobby, but Madeline loves to hoard things. Whether she's stuffing matchbox cars in a bookbag or collecting rocks in her pocket, more is better in her mind.

Relationship with Family
Maddie loves everyone. She gets so excited when she hears the garage door open in the afternoons, then yells, "Daddy home!" She holds hands and hugs Amelia frequently, sits in my lap all the time, and gives kisses. People often assume Jackson and James would be close since they are the boys of the family. However, Maddie is the one who loves dressing up and playing "bad guys" with Jack.

Love you, Maddie Moo!
