Two Week Check: Belly Buttons and Baths

We took the trio for their two week check last Thursday.  It was pretty uneventful.  Each of the babies finally lost their umbilical cord but the scab was still there.  The pediatrician took alcohol wipes and cleaned out their belly buttons.  To celebrate, we gave them their first real bath.  Here are quick updates:
Madeline weighed 5 lbs, 8 oz.  This is one ounce shy of her birth weight, which is pretty good considering how much she had lost within the first week.  She is still spitting up quite a good bit so the pediatrician told us to go ahead and double her current dosage of Zantac.  Overall, we were just happy that Maddie is gaining.  I told the doctor that Maddie is still sleeping 20+ hours a day, but she assured me that was fine.  Madeline is still our most relaxed baby, as long as she is held or in water.

Amelia weighed 6 lbs, 11 oz, which is 9 ounces up from her birth weight.  It turns out she is not a fan of bathing.  She already has such a strong personality and can be quite feisty!

James was a whopping 7 lbs, 14 oz, which is just over a pound from his birth weight.  He is still our biggest eater and is starting to show signs of being able to go longer stretches without eating.  While this would be a good thing if it was only him, it's frustrating with multiples.  We always try to wake all three to eat whenever one is hungry, but the babes are no longer hungry at the same times.  The past few nights we've been up much more frequently anyway because they are cluster feeding.

Our next appointment will be the one month check.  I'm not looking forward to this appointment as it is the first round of shots and the last appointment before Jesse goes back to work.  Time is going by entirely too quickly!

  1. James, I find you unbelievable. Nearly a pound UP? Your Aunt Katie is amazed. Keep up the good work little trio.
