14 Months Old

I had no intention of doing monthly updates after the triplets turned a year old, but they are growing and changing more than ever now. I've added a few categories to update. I regret not updating when they turned 13 months old because I don't know where all these teeth came from or when they started climbing and standing.

sleeping habits:
All three sleep soundly in their cribs from 7:30 p.m.--8/8:30 a.m.

Naps are all over the place. Between 12 and 13 months old they took one afternoon nap a day, typically from 1-3:30. When Jackson started preschool, they returned to taking two naps a day. Most mornings they nap from 11-12:30. Most afternoons they nap from 3:30-4:30. It changes a bit each day.

eating habits:
8:30 a.m.- sippy cup of soy milk with breakfast (fruit, french toast, waffle, cheese, cereal, etc)

12:30 or 1:30 (depending on if they wake up in time before preschool pick up or not).
sippy cup of water with lunch (quesadilla, grilled ham and cheese, pb&j, etc)

5:30 p.m.--sippy cup of soy milk with dinner (table food)

7 p.m.--5 oz bottle of soy milk (Old habits die hard.)

We are a lot more relaxed about offering unprocessed foods after they turned a year old. The babies love hot dogs, mac-n-cheese, fig newtons, etc. They eat relatively healthy, but sometimes convenience wins.

physical milestones:
James-cruises with one hand, climbs stairs and slides,
Amelia-stands without support, takes 2-3 steps independently, climbs up stairs and slides, independently uses riding toys, safely climbs down single steps
Maddie-pulls up to standing, cruises with one hand, climbs stairs and slides,

teeth:
James-8 (six top teeth including top molars, two bottom)
Amelia-6 (four top teeth, two bottom teeth)
Maddie-4 (two top, two bottom)

sizes:
James-size 12-18 month clothes, size 4 shoes
Amelia-size 12-18 month cloths, size 3 shoes
Maddie-size 12 month clothes, size 2 shoes

language/communication:
I'm including this selection in hopes that I can track their vocabulary. They make a variety of sounds, but very few words. However, they are all very good about non-verbally communicating their needs and wants.
James-claps, says "mama", "dada"
Amelia-waves, claps, gestures to come, says "mama", "dada", "mine"
Maddie-waves, blows kisses, claps, gestures to come, says "mama", "dada", "bye"

challenges:
-All three are very fast crawlers and climbers! No injuries yet, but it seems inevitable. They can each climb out of their high chair and carseats as soon as they're unbuckled. They are fearless and overestimate their abilities. They can have mastered climbing up but not down.
-Diaper changes are often wrestling matches.
-Maddie's therapy schedule is inconsistent. CBRS feels like a waste of time.
-We've had lots of transitions due to Jesse going back to work and Jackson resuming preschool.

special notes:
-We now have a cat, Aspen, who avoids the children.
-James had his first haircut.
-Amelia's teeth came in as a checkerboard pattern. She looked like a jack-o-lantern for a few weeks.
-The trio went to library story time for the first time since becoming mobile.
-I made a baby book with a detailed account from the positive pregnancy test to their first birthday.
