More Pumpkin Fun

Jackson only asked me 500 times this morning if we could paint the pumpkin.  He woke up at 7:30 a.m. and was ready to go!  Thanks to being an elementary school teacher for the past five years, I have accrued a closet full of craft supplies.  I lined the table with my 50 cent plastic tablecloth, poured a bit of paint in cupcake liners, and broke out the giant paintbrushes.  Jackson just kept clapping his hands and saying, "Ooo! I like that!" as I put everything out on the table.

After a short lecture on using a different paintbrush for each color paint, he was off to create his masterpiece.

And by masterpiece, I mean the head of the Blue Man Group.

I did my best to include the babies in the pumpkin fun.  They were pretty apathetic.

After Jackson decorated his pumpkin, we began the fall tradition of roasting pumpkin seeds.  Jack wasn't a big fan of scooping out the pumpkin guts.  I told him we had to put the seeds on a pan so he grabbed our cupcake tray and started putting handfuls in each section.  Thankfully I had already wiped off the paint drippings.

We were all amused by James' new hat.  (Jackson's idea)

I have no clue if the roasted pumpkin will turn out, but it's fun to experiment with something I've never made before.

I see pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese icing in my future...

  1. I have to show Jude that "hat" picture. There is an episode of Calliou where he has a leaf hat and Jude laughs so hard!

The pumpkin should be yummy; I make pumpkin puree by roasting a pumpkin every year.

    1. Must be toddler humor then :) I added brown sugar and cinnamon and roasted it for 2 hours. It smelled really good!
